It’s been really exciting to be shortlisted for the Best Wedding Videographer Award at the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards and whilst we didn’t win, the comments that we received from over 40 lovely couples meant that we didn’t mind one bit!

“Shoot-it-yourself were really helpful the whole time we were planning to use their services. As we were married on a Bank Holiday weekend – and the other side of the country – they were very accommodating with us picking up and delivering the cameras which would have been tricky otherwise. We also didn’t get as much footage as we had hoped as one of our friends who was helping was out of action but Andrea stepped in to the rescue and managed to help organise to make a great video using stills and other photos that we had of the day as extras. I cannot recommend her and shoot -it-yourself enough. I love watching the video and am really proud to show friends and family rather than forcing them to sit through hours of footage of the backs of our heads and apologising for the boring bits – there are no boring bits!!”

“After struggling to find a videographer that produced the type of video we wanted and didn’t cost an fortune, we had made the decision to have a friend film our wedding for us. When I found Shoot It Yourself a month before our big day I was SO pleased, it gave us the best of both worlds we could have the people closest to us filming (with good cameras!) and then have it edited to the finish of a professional wedding DVD. A family member and my bridesmaids filmed for us all day which meant we felt completely at ease, the guests knew them so were more willing to chat; they knew the shots we wanted and came up with great ideas like burger cam and MTV Cribs! The best thing was we could do what we wanted without being tied to someone else’s schedule and could have lots of fun! Andrea and the team were brilliant, they gave us ideas on good shots for the day, were friendly and always there to answer my (many) questions beforehand! Even though the Shoot It Yourself team weren’t at the wedding, their editing captured the atmosphere of the day perfectly. Our friends and family have loved watching them and because it’s online those who couldn’t make the day and who live abroad have been able to watch them easily. “The Shoot it yourself product exactly matched what we wanted for our wedding. We had 3 days of celebration so we were able to film over the whole weekend. The tutorials before getting the cameras were great, when they arrived everything was so simple to put together and use. And when we got the final product we were over the moon. We have the most amazing memory of our wedding weekend that is so individual, and most importantly it was edited to well it perfectly captured the mood of the whole weekend. “Even on the morning of the wedding, I was able to contact Shoot it Yourself and ask questions about the camera, even though they supply you with a very detailed and comprehensive booklet of how to set up the cameras and what to do and not do! “We booked Shoot it Yourself after some friends used them as we loved the fun and energetic videos they create. So many professional videographers produce cheesy montages of couples looking longingly at each other with some soppy song playing and we knew we didn’t want that. We had also been to weddings where it was tricky to even see the couple during the important bits due to the photographer, videographer, sound boom man etc surrounding them, and we wanted our day to be captured as it happened rather than orchestrated or directed – it’s not a performance. So, giving our friends the cameras was a perfect solution, and we love the result. There are some really funny moments which definitely wouldn’t happened in the hands of a pro, and people had a lot of fun with them. We also got to see lots that we missed on the day which was great. The team at SiY were really friendly and efficient from day 1. We had no problems at all, everything was delivered on time and they gave us opportunity to input into the final edit so we are really pleased with the result. It was great that the video could be viewed on line as all friends and family could see it with out having to wait till we meet up with them after the wedding. “We really loved the idea of shoot it yourself as soon as we saw the advert in a wedding magazine and immediately booked up with them. They are such a fun company to deal with – really friendly and full of great ideas. We were a bit worried that our friends might not give us enough footage for an entertaining film, but we were really delighted with the finished film. It was great to be able to suggest the songs that we wanted in the background to the film and we were impressed with how well they cut the songs we chose to fit with the footage. Overall we are very happy with the DVDs which recently arrived – they came very quickly and are great quality. The DVDs are also cut into chapters and the guys at SIY did a great job of realising which bits would be most important to us.”
